CarePortal Launching in Schenectady County, NY!
JFO is officially launching CarePortal in the very first NY county, Schenectady County, on Thursday, November 8th making NY the 17th state participating in CarePortal!
“We first learned about CarePortal just over a year ago and knew immediately that we needed to bring it to New York,” said Sandra Flach, Ex. Dir. of JFO and now Regional Manager of CarePortal in the Capital District. Flach went on to say that, “NY has some of the highest numbers of kids in care in the country with over 16,000 children in foster care. In the 16 states where CarePortal is currently active, there has been a significant reduction of the number of kids coming into care as churches in those states have stepped up to serve children and families in crisis in their communities. We at JFO want to see that impact here in NY and are confident we will as churches and local child welfare agencies utilize CarePortal.”
Elizabeth Roberts-Laura, Supervisor B of the Adoption/Foster Home Finding department at Schenectady County OCFS said, “At Schenectady County Office of Children and Family Services, we recognize the importance of community and faith based partnerships to meet the needs of the children and families in our county. We know that together we can do so much more than we can do alone and we are deeply appreciative that the CarePortal is supporting our efforts to help families in crisis, children in the foster care system and the foster families who are caring for them. We are very excited to be part of this collaboration.”
